  • Providing a means for the Institute to input to changing legislation, standards and codes of practice on occupational health and safety.
  • Seeking representatives from the Institute membership for, and maintaining a register of, Institute representation on national committees, boards and other bodies such as Australian Standards committees.
  • Assisting SIA members to maintain currency of professional knowledge.

Some of the specific activities of this Panel include:

  • Overseeing SIA representation on SAA Committees, including maintaining a register of SIA representation and seeking new representatives to fill any vacancies.
  • Development of a co-ordinated SIA response to national drafts from e.g.  Standards Australia,  NOHSC and other National Government bodies and departments.
  • Development of an official SIA response to any National Committee of Inquiry regarding health and safety issues.
  • Dissemination of information (including information on, and seeking responses to, National drafts) to the membership. This will be achieved through broadcast emails, the SIA website, articles in Safety in Australia and information to Divisions for circulation to members.
