The Safety Institute of Australia is very pleased and honoured to have Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, as its Patron. This continues the provision of Vice Regal Patronage to the SIA by former Governors-General, namely Major General Michael Jeffrey AC, CVO, MC (Retd) (2003-2008); The Right Reverend Dr Peter Hollingworth, AC, OBE (2001-2003); and The Honourable Sir William Patrick Deane, AC, KBE (1996-2001).

Fellows Investiture Ceremony
When members of the Institute attain Fellowship grades, i.e. Chartered Fellow (CFSIA) or Fellow (FSIA), or are accepted as Honorary Fellows (FSIA (Hon)), they enter the SIA Ltd College of Fellows and assist the Institute to advance the science of safety and health through professional excellence.
Subject to the her availability, the Governor-General, as the Institute's Patron, may officiate at Fellows Investiture Ceremonies, which are attended by family and friends. The Fellows then together recite the College of Fellows Pledge. To date, over 130 Fellows have attended such ceremonies.
