Keith Brown

Keith Brown - Chief Executive Officer


Keith Brown was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Safety Institute of Australia Ltd (SIA) in late 2011 to facilitate the implementation of the SIA’s new company structure and strategy aimed at rejuvenating the Institute.

Prior to his appointment with SIA, Keith worked internationally within the safety and wellness sector with a US-based company; and with WorkCover Corporation of SA from 1997-2002, where he was the Chief Executive Officer.  During his term as CEO with WorkCover Corporation of SA, Keith assumed the concomitant roles of Commissioner with the then National Occupational Health and Safety Commission based in Canberra, Convenor of the Heads of Workplace Safety and Compensation Authorities, and Chair of the Ministerial Advisory Committees on Workplace Safety and Workers Compensation.

In 2001 he directed the highly successful International Congress on Injury Prevention and Compensation, ‘WorkCongress5’, which attracted high profile international presenters and delegates to Adelaide. Keith’s earlier career included senior executive HR/IR roles spanning the resources and banking sectors, while he served on the Boards of various employer associations in Victoria and NSW.

Keith is currently Chair of Emmanuel Secondary College, which has campuses in Altona North and Point Cook; and Chair of the Western Region Football League Junior Competition.  More recently, Keith has been appointed as a Director of the newly formed Inner North West Melbourne Medicare Local Ltd, and Progressive Primary Health Ltd.
   
Danielle Laffey

Danielle Laffey - Manager, Operational Excellence


In Danielle’s role as Manager Operational Excellence she is responsible for upgrading the core operational functions of the SIA and to ensure that exemplary service are delivered to members through effective corporate governance, operational structures, management systems and accountabilities.

Danielle is well known to all members for her work as the National Finance and Office Manager, where she has played a significant role in supporting the operations of the Institute over the past three and a half years.


   
Paul Stanmore

Paul Stanmore - Manager, Marketing and Business Development


Paul Stanmore, has been appointed as the Manager of Marketing and Business Development. Paul possesses a strong background in membership marketing, health regulation and business development - gained from a long history within the healthcare sector with organisations such as the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, the Nurses Board of Victoria and the Royal College of Nursing, Australia. Paul's previous appointments include Manager of Public Relations & Communications, and Director of Membership & Marketing.

Paul's passion encompasses the many facets of Marketing, Communications and Business Development, and he is keen to work with the dedicated team at the SIA and contribute to the ongoing success and continued growth of the SIA brand.
   
Patricia Beale

Patricia Beale - Manager, Membership Development


Patricia Beale, has been appointed as the Manager of Membership Development.

Patricia has a long and significant involvement with the Institute, having been leader of both the Graduate Support Program (2009-2010) and the Professional Coaching Program (2011), and member of the SIA Victorian Branch Committee in 2011. Patricia is also a Fellow of the SIA.

Her role with the SIA encompasses growing membership numbers; building the development framework for members; supporting the work of the OHS Education and Accreditation Board, and the OHS Education Chapter; and ensuring a balance between certification and affiliation for members.

Possessing a strong background in OHS consulting, education, networking and community development, Patricia is well placed to assist significantly in developing the SIA membership strategy and activities.
   
Amanda Day

Amanda Day - Manager, Corporate Relations


Amanda Day has been appointed as the Manager of Corporate Relations. Amanda’s previous roles include Comcare investigator, regulatory program manager and policy officer for Safe Work Australia working on the legislation harmonisation process. Amanda brings a passion for work health and safety and regulation which is reflected in her work history and academic achievements.

The corporate relations manager role within the SIA encompasses liaising with and influencing key stakeholders, and developing corporate and strategic partnerships on behalf of the SIA. Amanda brings a strong background in work health and safety regulation and policy to the SIA and is well placed to perform this key role and provide strategic support for the SIA in its work towards positively influencing work health and safety outcomes.

   
Gail Jacks

Gail Jacks - Finance/Office Manager


Gail has recently joined the SIA as the Finance/Office Manager.  Her vast experience as a Bookkeeper /Accounts Manager will hold her in good stead for the task at hand in her new role.  Gail works closely with Danielle Laffey, Manager, Operational Excellence to provide meaningful financial reports.

Gail is responsible for the efficient & effective control of all financial functions of the SIA up to and including the preparation of the Financial Audit.  Her role encompasses responsibility for the application of accounting principles and procedures to all financial information, preparation of accurate and timely financial reports and to ensure appropriate accounting controls procedures for the National Office and Branches of the SIA.

Along with the responsibility of the Finances, Gail also has the role of Office Manager which is a varied role that includes the maintenance of the National office and the smooth day to day running of the office including the coordination & preparation of meetings at the office.  Gail oversees the maintenance and upkeep of the members records as maintained by Fran & Catherine as part of their administration roles.

   
   
   
Catherine Reid

Catherine Reid - Membership Support Services Officer


Catherine Reid is the Membership Support Services Officer; she is responsible in assisting the recruitment of new members to the Institute and delivering efficient services that are focused on our members and our events whilst promoting health & safety prevention and continuous improvement.

Catherine graduated from RMIT majoring in Business Administration and Business Documentation. This has provided her with extensive knowledge of business relations and administration. Catherine provides the SIA with great customer services skills, a friendly nature and great attention to detail.
