VIC Parliament Level Crossing Safety Inquiry
On 14 April 2008, Dr. Geoff Dell CFSIA (SIA National President), Dr. George Rechnitzer FSIA (& Principal Forensic Engineer DVExperts www.dvexperts.net)) and Mr Gary Lawson-Smith (CEO SIA & National Technical Chair) provided a presentation to the Parliament of Victoria Road Safety Committee Inquiry into improving level Crossing Safety. This presentation was a follow up to the separate submissions made in late 2007 by SIA and DVExperts on the topic. The Road Safety Committee was highly appreciative of the thrust and scope of the presentation. Also attached is a copy of a Media Release that was issued by the SIA on 17 April.

2009 Royal Commission on the VIC Bushfires
On 19 February 2009, a formal notification was distributed to all SIA members outlining the Terms of Reference for the 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission and the SIA's Media Release on the tragic Victorian Bushfires. It also extended an invitation for contributions from members with special expertise in this area.
The SIA's formal submission to this Royal Commission was submitted on May 18, 2009.
