I'm after some advise on the use of tank bracket scaffolds for work on smoke stacks.
Are these still in general use or has their use become unacceptable practice? I notice they are still allowed and included in AS 4576:1995
If their use is no longer considered best practice, what have been the deciding factors for this shift and are there alternatives?
Thanks

All Yes, Tank Scaffold Brackets are still in use and are a valid option, however their use should only be undertaken by a suitably trained scaffolder in conjunction with appropriately trained welder / boilermaker. Saunders International use these regularly in our operations of constructing and/or maintaining bulk steel storage tanks. We have also developed an alternate steel staging, which attaches to the structure in a similar way. Where the structure maintains it's circumfrence as it rises, this is a more practical and timely solution, providing greater stability and a better working platform, but it is not practical for all applications. I would be happy to discuss further should anyone wish to contact me regarding this. My e-mail is jstevenson@saunders-international.com.au Regards Jeremy Stevenson HSE Manager Saunders International |
