Australian Health & Safety Matters
The current and archived eBook versions of ASHM can be viewed via the link: http://digital.crowtherblayne.com.au/?xml=crowther_safety.xml. SIA members are invited to use this exciting new innovation to encourage colleagues and other potential new SIA members (individual and corporates) to join the Institute.
Under a formal agreement with the SIA’s National Publishing Partner, Crowther-Blayne & Associates Pty Ltd, four issues of Australian Safety & Health Matters (ASHM) are produced annually. However, provision exits for this initial production rate to be increased if justified by demand. Currently, a total of 8,000 printed copies of each issue of ASHM are distributed as follows:
(i) To SIA members (individual and Corporate Partners);
(ii) At SIA major events, e.g. Safety In Action, Melbourne; QLD Safety Show & Conference; WA Safety Show & Conference; Safety Show & Conference, Sydney; Visions;
(iii) Crowther-Blayne also distributes 2,500 copies to potential new SIA members; and
(iv) 400 copies are used by the SIA National Office for marketing purposes.
Dr Steve Cowley FSIA, Chairman of the Editorial Management Committee, the SIA National Board of Management and I welcome feedback on ASHM.
We would also strongly encourage all SIA members to consider submitting articles for future issues. There must be at least a 1,000 articles that SIA members can write to assist the SIA to promote the highest possible standards of health and safety at work, on the roads, at play and at home. As you are aware, the Institute believes that the distinctive advice of qualified and experienced health and safety professionals is a prerequisite to the specification of the health and safety responsibilities of all levels of Government (Federal, State, Territory or Local), employers (across all industry sectors) and community organisations.
Steve can be contacted on E: scowley@iprimus.com.au or M: 0438 418 008. My contact details are outlined below. Steve is also oversighting the production of a new peer-reviewed journal, which will be a first for the SIA and titled "Safety In Australia".
Under a separate agreement with Crowther-Blayne, two issues of this journal will be published annually, with the 1st issue due to be published in December 2008.
A 3rd Agreement with Crowther-Blayne to provide enhanced eNewsletter capability is still under consideration whilst priority is given to the production of the new magazine and journal.
