Work Safe Week,
Victoria's premier safety event is now in its 18th year and to help
celebrate its ‘coming of age' WorkSafe Victoria is making it bigger and better
than ever before.
For beginners to
experts in the field, small, medium and large sized business across every
industry, from Monday 25 to Friday 29 October seminars on an enormous range of
topics will be presented at venues across the state.
Work Safe Week is the
easiest and most popular way for Victorian employers, workers and others
involved in health and safety to get practical information and solutions to
common risks and hazards in their industry.
Some of the key seminars
at Work Safe Week 2010 include:

Bullying,
are you doing enough? - practical information on how to prevent
bullying in your workplace and how to respond if it does happen.

Manual
handling
basics - learn how to use WorkSafe
Victoria manual handling risk assessment
and control worksheets with information on challenges and solutions from within
a number of industries including construction, manufacturing, child care to
name a few.
Other
topics include seminars on:
- New laws - learn
about the national health and safety laws, and changes to the Accident Compensation
Act.

Slips
trips and falls - understand the risks of slips, trips and falls, and
what you need to do to make your workplace safe.

Health and
wellbeing -
learn about the latest findings and developments from the WorkHealth program

Return to
work
- gain an understanding of employer's duties and obligations and the role of
the newly created Return to work Inspectors.
All events are free. You must register
to attend. Many seminars book out
quickly so get in early to ensure your seat at this years premier safety event.
Feedback from last year found that 75%
of those who had attended an event had made changes back at the workplace.
