The WorkCover NSW medical certificate has been replaced by the WorkCover certificate of capacity as the primary tool for nominated treating doctors to communicate with all parties involved in the return to work process.
WorkCover NSW said the nominated treating doctor or treating specialist medical practitioner is responsible for completing the WorkCover certificate of capacity, while the worker is responsible for providing a completed WorkCover certificate of capacity to the employer or insurer to be eligible for weekly payments.
The certificate is one source of information that may be used by the insurer to inform work capacity assessments and decisions, according to WorkCover NSW, which provides further detail regarding the certificate of capacity in an information sheet for medical practitioners .
The WorkCover certificate of capacity is available on the WorkCover NSW website.
