Little progress on criminalisation of OHS offences

Although it appears that OHS regulators across Australia have taken a more robust approach to enforcement in the past three decades, work health and safety offences have in fact been rarely prosecuted, according to an academic expert.

Safety alert issued over serious burns incidents

WorkCover NSW recently issued a safety alert following two incidents in which kitchen workers suffered serious burns after methylated spirits was mistakenly used near a heat source or flame.

Caution issued over traffic management and farm safety

An incident in which a woman was killed by a truck reversing from a machinery shed has led to an $80,000 fine for a Werribee vegetable grower and a $15,000 fine for a labour hire company which supplied workers to the property.
