Leadership
10.30 - 11.10
Paul Taylor, CEO of Personal Training Academy,
Acumotum and the Body Brain
Performance Institute
The last decade has seen an explosion in
Neuroscience research that has shown unequivocally that human brain has an enormous capacity to change - if it is given the proper stimulus and training. The ability of the brain to change is termed ‘plasticity’. In this stimulating talk, Professor Taylor will explore the evidence for organisational consciousness and show how
the neuroscience of plasticity can be applied to
organisations to drive effective change. He will
also present the case that employee health and
safety are fundamentally intertwined.
11.10 - 11.50
Leonard J Neist, Chief Executive,
NSW Independent Transport Safety Regulator
Effective safety leadership not only requires
senior management and executives to be
informed and competent in risk management and
to own their organisation’s safety management
system, it also requires organisational
competence in safety management. All levels of
an organisation, right down to a single specialist
or individual have leadership accountabilities.
When it comes to safety, the key is making sure
everyone understands their accountabilities and
is prepared by their organisation to act on them.
11.50 - 12.30
Chris Keast, General Manager, Pacific National
Effective leadership is critical at both executive
level and at the front line. The ability to engage
at the front line is vital in delivering safety
improvements. “Leaders walking the talk” is
more than a cliché, it is a must if leaders are to
fully engage in safety management and safety
improvement activities that impact on those
exposed to risk. Organisations must equip not
just our senior leaders with the appropriate skills
but more now than ever our front line leaders
need the skills to implement safe working
environments and enduring change.
