The Health and Safety Professionals Alliance is an alliance of OHS professional bodies and universities providing OHS professional education in Victoria. It was formed in September 2007 under the auspices or WorkSafe Victoria. The goals of this group are to improve OHS in Victorian workplaces through enhanced quality of OHS professionals; improved OHS service delivery to workplaces; and promotion of OHS as an area of professional practice. HaSPA is currently comprised of representatives of: Australian and New Zealand Society of Occupational Medicine; Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists; Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine; Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia; Safety Institute of Australia; La Trobe University; RMIT University; University of Ballarat; Monash University and the Congress of Safety and Health Association Presidents; with representatives of the Victorian Trades Hall Council and the Victorian Congress of Employer Associations attending as observers.
While this Alliance is Victorian-based the discussions and outputs have national implications. In recognition of these implications, the SIA OHS Education Chapter provides national input to this group in addition to representation by the SIA.
The SIA OHS Education Chapter representative on HaSPA is Pam Pryor.
