Welcome to the SIA Plant and Machinery Special Interest Group.
The Plant and Machinery SIG is a national special interest group of the Safety Institute of Australia (SIA) for those who are involved in Plant and Machinery lifecycle management. Membership of the Chapter is open to financial members of the SIA who have a special interest in the industry, with no additional fees required for membership.
The objective of this special interest group is to promote the professionalism of safety practitioners in the industry in addition to improving Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in the workplace in consultation with regulators, governing bodies and operators of Plant and Machinery.
Areas for focus:
Promote awareness and understanding of relevant regulations, standards and requirements for Plant and Machine safety.
Establish a forum of Plant and Machine Safety Professionals to forge national and international links for world's best practice.
Supporting the transfer of knowledge for safe risk management methodologies of Plant and Machinery
Become a recognised point of reference for Plant and Machine safety based on rigorous OHS principles by recognised competent professionals.
Initially the Plant and Machinery SIG wants to focus on generating discussion in reference to the "National Standard of Plant" with a strong emphasis on lifecycle management, focused application of risk management and Safe Design.
For the purpose of this "Plant and Machinery" Special Interest Group (SIG), Plant is a general name for machinery, appliances and equipment. It can include but will not be confined to scaffolding, cranes and various industrial appliances.
The Plant and Machinery Special Interest Group Forum requires active support and participation so please open a thread for discussion or participate in one of the forums.
