Seminar

The Safety Institute of Australia and ENGENEOHS invites you to join Erik Hollnagel for an evening seminar during his visit to Australia.

Erik's topic for the evening will beWhat Happens When "Nothing" Happens?
It recaps by touching on ETTO & Safety II. He also takes the thinking a shade further to contextualise the concepts into our everyday thinking. This sets us up better to imagine (WAI) what is required for implementation of the concepts in our real world (WAD).
Without going too “deep” he further challenges the thinking of a wide audience as well as providing "food for thought" by reinforcing the application of the RAG (Resilience Assessment Grid) potentials.

YOUR SPEAKER
Erik Hollnagel - Professor at the University of Southern Denmark

Professor Hollnagel is presently the Senior Professor of Patient Safety at Jönköping Academy, Sweden. Erik is also Adjunct Professor at Central Queensland University (Australia), Honorary Professor, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Macquarie University (Australia), Visiting Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Study of the Technische Universitat München (Germany), and Professor Emeritus at the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDA) at Linköping University (LIU), Sweden.
His professional interests include:

  • industrial safety
  • resilience engineering
  • patient safety
  • safety synthesis
  • modelling large-scale socio-technical systems.

Among his contributions are Cognitive Systems Engineering, Resilience Engineering, Resilient Health Care, the ETTO Principle, the FRAM (Functional Resonance Analysis Method), the RAG (Resilience Assessment Grid), and Safety-II.
Erik is the author of more than 500 publications including twenty-four books, articles from recognised journals, conference papers, and reports. Erik has been President of the European Association of Cognitive Ergonomics (1994 – 2000) as well as co-founder and past President of the Resilience Engineering Association.
