SIA Webinar - ISO 45001 – Getting Ready for the New Standard for OHS Management Systems

On behalf of the Safety Institute of Australia, we invite you to join us for a webinar at 2.30pm (AEST) on Wednesday 5 September 2018 titled: ISO 45001 – Getting Ready for the New Standard for OHS Management Systems.

This seminar provides an update associated with the new Global Standard for Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems which replaces ISO 18001 and is planned to also replace AS/NZS 4801. The seminar will provide an overview of the key changes associated with ISO 18001 and AS/NZS 4801 and highlight the areas practitioners should focus on to ensure they comply with this standard.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the seminar, participants will:

• Understanding the background associated with ISO 45001 and its relevance to Australia
• Understand the key differences between ISO 18001, AS/NZS 4801 and ISO 45001
• Identify key differences and key impacts and benefits to business associated with key changes

YOUR SPEAKER
Mario Machado, National Practice Leader - WHS, People Risk, Melbourne

Mario Machado has 20 years’ experience associated Safety, Risk Management, Environmental Management, Leadership and Organisational Culture Management. Mario has extensive experience in developing and implementing systems, hazards management and a range of technical areas including but not limited to plant, manual handling, hazardous substances, dangerous goods, traffic management, asbestos management, occupational hygiene, cooling towers and Legionella management, ageing workforce risk management and contractor’s management. Mario also has extensive experience in implementing targeted program to improve safety performance.

Mario is a previous member of Australian Standard Committee SF-01 which provides technical and strategic management of Australian Standards AS NZS 4801-2001, AS NZS 4804-2001, HB 211-2001 and AS 1470-1986.  Mario is also a past member of WorkSafe Australia – Exposure Standard Expert Working Group, a past member of WorkSafe Victoria Labour Hire Stakeholder Committee and WorkSafe Vic Safety Awards judge.

Mario is also a member of the Exemplar Global ISO 45001 Exam Committee, which has been established to develop an exam for all lead auditors associated with the transition from AS 4801 to ISO 45001. This committee will also be working with other committees developing training packages and the development of the standard itself.

Mario’s greatest passion lies within the field of personal development, something he has been dedicated to for the past 17 years. It’s this experience along with his technical experience that has given him a different insight into leadership, behavioural and cultural transformation. This skills set provides him with an unusual but very important ability to help organisations with change management, leadership, team development and conflict resolution.
