Welcome to the 8th edition of prOHnewS
In this edition, we provide information about WorkSafe’s tender for OHS professional services. This service differs significantly from WorkSafe’s longstanding three–hour free OHS consultant service for small business in that it is aimed at medium sized business ($1 million to $20 million remuneration) and works as part of a WorkSafe intervention strategy. By producing new products and services tailored to different sized Victorian business, WorkSafe aims to add further value to workplaces.
The national OHS training packages information is worth a read to keep abreast of the potential changes that could be coming soon.

Professional OHS advice
The list of health and safety consultants on WorkSafe’s online service provider directory has been replaced with a new WorkSafe web resource.
The professional OHS advice webpage helps workplaces to:
• understand the duty to employ or engage a suitably qualified person to advise on issues impacting health and safety
• work out what OHS advice might be needed
• how and where to get the right advice.
The webpage also has information and resources for OHS professionals to keep up to date with improvements to OHS advice in workplaces.
A scoping review of the OHS training and courses available in the vocational education and training system is being conducted by Innovation and Business Skills Australia. The courses will include individual OHS units in a wide range of training packages and Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in OHS.
