Safety Institute of Australia honour Michael Tooma with the
2019 Lifetime Achievement Award
On Wednesday, 22 May 2019 at the SIA National Health and Safety Conference Dinner in Sydney, Michael Tooma was presented with the 2019 SIA Lifetime Achievement Award.
This award has been created to recognize exemplary service to the field of health and safety in Australian workplaces and acknowledges long-term and influential contribution to the profession that achieve tangible outcomes in OHS/WHS.
Michael Tooma is widely recognised as Australia’s leading OHS legal expert and is the Managing Partner of Clyde & Co Australia. Michael has authored over 32 OHS-related text books in the last 20 years including a focus on due diligence and a positive investigation methodology. Michael has lectured on an honorary basis at universities including UNSW, ANU and Edith Cowan. He has contributed to many SIA conferences and events as a keynote speaker and has been a regular contributor to, and on the editorial board of, the SIA’s OHS Professional Magazine.
Chair of the SIA College of Fellows, Mr. Kym Bills presented Michael with his award to formally acknowledge his influential contributions to OHS/WHS in Australia.
