WorkSafe Victoria advise that Return to Work Inspectors will be focusing on the western suburbs of Melbourne such as Laverton, Hoppers Crossing and Werribee throughout August. The aim of the campaign is to ensure employers in these areas are meeting their return to work obligations for injured workers.

WorkSafe Victoria reports that the primary focus during workplace visits will be to identify workplaces where workers have suffered an injury and have been unable to return to work.

This campaign follows almost 5000 injuries in the Wyndham region being reported to WorkSafe over the last five financial years to 30th June 2011. WorkSafe Victoria advises that these injuries cost employers nearly $100 million in medical costs, wages and other expenses.

WorkSafe Victoria is planning to host a free Return to Work Co-ordinator workshop in Sanctuary Lakes later this month to help those dealing with injured workers. If you would like to hear from a panel of return to work experts who will talk through how to overcome barriers in order to achieve a successful outcome, consider attending the workshop on 21st August.

The panel of experts event will be held from 9am to 11.30am at Sanctuary Lakes Resort, Greg Norman Drive (off Point Cook Rd), Sanctuary Lakes 3030.

For more information, or to register for the event, head to the WorkSafe Victoria website.
